Who we are
Auto Field Maps is a free website for mapping the fields on your land, with their sizes and field numbers. It is run by the person who owns this website, who also runs Model my Property.
What we keep
There are no accounts, and you never need to give your name or email address. Your work is saved automatically in your own browser so it is there when you return. It is not sent to us. Your maps stay on your device unless you save them to a file or download them.
If you let the site use your location, your browser gives it once, only to move the map to where you are. It is not saved or sent to us.
Land Registry files you add are read in your browser and are not uploaded.
When you use Share, the map you choose to share (its land and field outlines, field numbers, crops, jobs, and notes if you include them) is kept on our website so the link can be short. It is stored with Cloudflare, which hosts the site, and deleted automatically after 90 days. Nothing else is kept with it: not your name, email address or anything about your device. Anyone you give the link to can open the map, so only share it with people you want to see it. If the short link cannot be made, the map is packed into a longer link instead and not stored at all.
Services the site loads from
Map pictures, place search, field edges, field numbers and height data come from other services: Esri, OpenStreetMap (Nominatim and Overpass), the Environment Agency and the Rural Payments Agency, and, for land elsewhere, the Welsh Government (DataMapWales), the Scottish Remote Sensing Portal, PDOK (the Netherlands), IGN Géoplateforme (France), the US Department of Agriculture and Source Cooperative (Ireland). Welsh lidar tiles are passed through this website on their way to you, and nothing about you is kept when they are. Like any website that loads from other places, they can see your internet address and which area you are looking at.
Adverts and cookies
The site shows adverts from Google AdSense to pay for itself. Google and its partners may use cookies, or similar technologies, to show adverts and to measure how they perform. Personalised adverts, based on your visits to this and other websites, are only shown if you agree when asked. If you do not agree, Google may still show non-personalised adverts, which use cookies only for things such as limiting how often you see an advert and preventing fraud.
You can turn off personalised adverts across the web at adssettings.google.com. To learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Besides advertising cookies, the site sets no cookies of its own. Nothing about you is ever sold.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what information is held about you, and ask for it to be corrected or deleted. Because your work is kept in your own browser, you can delete it yourself at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
